Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to lead the technical design of complex solutions for government and defence customers and represent Osavul in high-level technical discussions.
This role combines solution architecture, technical pre-sales, and enterprise security. You'll work closely with customers to understand their operational needs, translate requirements into solution designs, and contribute to technical proposals and tenders. A key part of the role is ensuring that our solutions can meet demanding requirements for security, deployment, integration, and ongoing operations.
We're looking for someone with a strong engineering background who understands how complex systems are built and operated, but can also communicate technical decisions clearly to customers and senior stakeholders.
You'll work closely with our Forward Deployed Engineering, R&D, and commercial teams, reporting to the Head of Forward Deployed Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Technical Bid Solutioning
- Design high-level architectures for complex government and defence solutions, including system diagrams, deployment topologies, data flows, and security boundaries.
- Translate customer needs and operational challenges into functional and non-functional requirements, maintaining traceability between requirements and solution components.
- Develop technical architecture documentation covering system integrations, availability, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and operational requirements.
- Lead the technical solutioning process for bids and tenders, including architecture proposals, compliance matrices, gap assessments, and responses to technical requirements.
- Evaluate architectural trade-offs, including build vs. buy decisions, technology choices, licensing, total cost of ownership, and delivery constraints.
- Design integrations with existing customer infrastructure, including identity providers, security monitoring systems, data sources, and AI platforms.
Technical Pre-Sales & Client Advisory
- Lead technical discovery sessions and architecture discussions with government, defence, and other strategic customers.
- Work closely with commercial teams to develop technically sound proposals and present solution approaches to customers.
- Explain complex technical concepts, architectural decisions, and security considerations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advise customers on deployment, integration, maintenance, and incident management approaches for secure enterprise environments.
- Represent Osavul at relevant industry events, conferences, and customer meetings.
Product & Engineering Collaboration
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to align customer requirements with existing product capabilities and technical roadmap.
- Contribute to improving the architecture, security, compliance, and on-premises readiness of Osavul's solutions.
- Help identify technical gaps, integration challenges, and opportunities to improve the product's suitability for complex enterprise and government environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience building or operating distributed backend or platform systems, combined with strong solution or enterprise architecture experience.
- Proven experience designing complex enterprise solutions, including on-premises, self-hosted, or customer-managed environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, system integration, infrastructure architecture, security, and operational requirements.
- Experience translating complex customer needs into technical requirements, solution designs, and architecture decisions, balancing feasibility, scalability, security, and cost.
- Experience preparing architecture documentation, technical proposals, and solution designs for complex enterprise or public-sector projects.
- Solid understanding of enterprise security principles, including identity and access management, data protection, auditability, and compliance.
- Experience working directly with customers, leading technical discovery, presenting solutions, and discussing architectural trade-offs with senior stakeholders.
- Experience working with government, defence, national security, or other highly regulated organisations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required NATO security clearance.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have
- Experience with air-gapped environments, offline software deployment and upgrades, or security accreditation for government or defence systems.
- An existing NATO or relevant national security clearance.
- Familiarity with security and compliance standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR.
- Experience with self-hosted LLM/RAG systems, GPU infrastructure, or AI model-serving technologies such as vLLM or TGI.
- Familiarity with enterprise infrastructure and security technologies such as RHEL/OpenShift, VMware, Windows/AD, PKI, RBAC/ABAC, and SIEM integrations.
- Experience with threat intelligence sharing standards and platforms (e.g. STIX/TAXII and OpenCTI), or AI integration protocols (e.g. MCP).
We Offer
- Opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven startup and support prestigious clients, including governments worldwide, enterprise clients, and leading NGOs in tackling global security challenges.
- Autonomy and freedom to drive experiments and bring your own ideas to life.
- Flexibility of fully remote work.
- Flexible, unlimited time-off policy.
